Effective date: 2026.01.01
Hike-R (“Hike-R”, “we”, “us”) is provided by Kristóf Ritter. This policy explains how Hike-R for iOS and Android handles information.
With your permission, Hike-R uses location, heading, altitude, and device motion activity to show your position on the map, follow your movement, display elevation, and reduce battery usage. This information is processed on your device. Hike-R does not send your location or motion data to our servers.
You can withdraw permission at any time in your device settings. Without permission, location-based features will not work.
Hike-R stores downloaded map and trail files, map position and zoom, language and theme choices, download metadata, and local purchase/download state. This data remains on your device. You can delete downloaded map data in Hike-R or remove Hike-R and its app data from your device.
Hike-R does not require an account and does not collect names, email addresses, contacts, photos, audio, or other content you create.
Hike-R downloads map archives from GitHub Releases. GitHub and network providers may process ordinary connection information, such as IP address, request time, device/network headers, and requested file. Hike-R does not include your location in these requests. GitHub handles this information under its own privacy policy.
Optional Pro purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Billing. Hike-R receives purchase entitlement and related transaction information needed to unlock Pro features. We do not receive or store your payment-card details. Apple and Google handle payment information under their own privacy policies.
Hike-R contains no advertising, cross-app tracking, analytics, user profiling, or sale of personal information. Hike-R does not upload route searches, selected routes, or location history.
Hike-R uses MapLibre as an embedded, open-source map renderer and displays bundled or downloaded offline data. Map data may include material from OpenStreetMap, Geofabrik, Copernicus DEM, and Natural Earth. These sources provide map content; Hike-R does not send them your personal information.
Local data remains until you delete it, delete downloaded content, or remove the app. Hike-R does not maintain a personal account or server-side location history. GitHub, Apple, Google, and network providers control their own retention and security practices.
Hike-R uses platform storage, operating-system permissions, HTTPS downloads, and standard platform security controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Where required by law, we process location and motion data based on your permission, and process requested downloads and purchases to provide those features. External providers determine their own legal bases for information they process. Provider services may process information in countries outside your own, subject to their privacy policies and applicable safeguards.
Hike-R is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding personal information. Because Hike-R does not maintain user accounts or server-side location data, we may have little or no personal information to provide or delete. Requests concerning Apple, Google, GitHub, or network-provider data must be sent to the relevant provider.
We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. California residents may have additional rights under applicable privacy law.
Contact us at support.hiker@gmail.com to exercise applicable rights or ask privacy questions.
We may update this policy when Hike-R or its data practices change. We will publish the updated version with a new effective date.
